Do you know what self-confidence is? It is belief in you. It is belief that God made you smart, capable, and beautiful. It is belief that you may not be perfect, but you have positive attributes that you feel good about. It has a lot to do with your self-confidence. It defines how you feel about yourself. Are you self-reliant and independent? Are you self-motivated and self-starting? Do you always need someone looking over your shoulder? If you are one who does not need to be told what to, you get things done just because you know it needs to be done, then you are independent but not necessarily confident. An independent and self-reliant person will not need to be told to clean up their room or do your homework. An independent and self-reliant person will do them just because they need to be done.
Do you have self-respect and self-pride? These also play an important role in your self-esteem? Self-esteem is your own satisfaction with yourself. The fact that you know you are intelligent, beautiful, or talented plays a major role in your self-esteem. They way you feel about what you are able to do is also part of your self-esteem. Don’t confuse a person with self-confidence and high self-esteem with a person who is arrogant and full of pride. There is such a thing as too much. The better your self-esteem, the more self-confidence you will have. The more confidence you have the better you will be at work, in school, or in church, and in having good relationships with both friends and relatives.

The ADD/ADHD Noose
What is ADD/ADHD?
Just about everybody is familiar with the term ADD/ADHD. ADD is an acronym for Attention Deficit Disorder. ADHD is an acronym for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Over the past decade or two it has gotten much attention from parents, educators, and policy makers across America.
Gone undiagnosed, a “busy” child who appears out of control can send an entire family into an uncomfortable tailspin of doubt and worry. While it is often reassuring to frazzled parents to have an actual diagnosis to their child’s symptoms, the diagnosis can raise more questions than it answers. The correct route to take as far as treatment is concerned is often mired in a mountain of contradictory information that can be difficult to sift through. It’s essential that the proper course of action be taken to eliminate the bother. These symptoms that can include:
inability to focus
a quick temper
fidgety or excessive movement
irritability
may have difficulty following through on instructions
is often disorganized and forgetful in daily activities
may fail to pay attention to detail and be careless in making
simple mistakes with homework
is often easily distracted by extraneous stimuli
may appear to be inattentive when spoken to directly
probably leaves chores, homework, and other stuff undone
Getting a solid diagnosis:
Your first course of action is to ensure the diagnosis is accurate. The diagnosis of both ADD and ADHD is on the rise and some experts are very concerned that not all may be warranted. Teachers and other educational professionals cannot provide a diagnosis and no course of treatment whether herbal or medical should be implemented without an official diagnosis. Seek out a certified medical doctor that specializes in child mental health who is open to alternative measures rather than going straight to the prescription pad.
Medication therapy needs to be carefully considered and turned to as an alternative of last resort, rather than the first. While the medications supplied tend to work in a majority of cases, the concern is with the side effects and long-term consequences of the drugs commonly prescribed. Ritalin is by the most famous of the drug therapies recommended for ADD and ADHD children. Ritalin is an amphetamine commonly referred to in street parlance as an “upper” or “speed.”
Your first line of attack can be initiated while waiting for a diagnosis. Diet changes can and should be implemented in the family diet as follows:
increase the volume of fresh fruits and vegetables
reduce refined sugars and carbohydrates
eliminate food additives such as aspartame and splenda
avoid food with artificial coloring
ensure that your child receives adequate protein
It’s all comes down to good health and good parenting
More on ADD/ADHD
New research published in the journal Pediatrics reveals that children who take Ritalin for ADHD have their growth stunted by the drug. Actually the symptoms of ADD/ADHD can be controlled by diet and supplements such as Flaxseed oil and other nutrients for the brain. I have clients who are very pleased by the results they get from giving them a supplement called Focus Attention, along with other supplements I recommend for each child, after I do an analysis with them. I also recommend parents take their children off of sugary drinks, such as sodas and junk food and have them eat a more wholesome diet.
